Women Humanitarian and Disaster Risk Reduction Platform (WHDRRP)

Following the 26 August 2026 Bhote Koshi–Trishuli flood, the Centre for Disaster Management Studies (CDMS), representing the Women Humanitarian and Disaster Risk Reduction Platform (WHDRRP), has launched a US$150,000 emergency appeal to protect women, girls, and displaced families from gender-based violence, trafficking, and psychosocial distress in overcrowded, often non-segregated shelters. Over three months, the appeal aims to reach 18,500 people — including women, girls, children, older people, persons with disabilities, and families of the missing or deceased — through help desks, family tracing, psychological first aid, women and girls’ safe spaces, dignity kits, child-focused support, safeguarding training, and safety assessments. CDMS will coordinate with NDRRMA, the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, local authorities, and health and humanitarian partners, following survivor-centered, Do No Harm, and PSEAH principles.
