24 Sep Initial GEDSI Needs Assessment by ROYM Nepal
ROYM Nepal conducted an Initial assessment of flood-affected communities, displaced families and holding centres, with a focus on emergency needs, GEDSI, protection and the feasibility of community-based response in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.
The report shows that flood-affected and displaced families continue to face serious challenges in meeting their basic needs and rebuilding a sense of safety and normal life. The situation is particularly difficult for families staying in holding centres, where access to safe drinking water, clean toilets, adequate food, health services, privacy and safe living conditions remains limited. The assessment also indicates that the needs are not the same for everyone. Women, children, pregnant and lactating women, older persons and persons with disabilities require additional attention and support based on their individual circumstances. Overall, the assessment suggests that the response should move beyond the provision of general relief and focus on safe, practical and needs-based support.
