20 May Regional Assessment of DRM Institutions in South Asia 2019-2020
The World Bank has engaged Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) to conduct a regional assessment of the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) institutions in the South Asia Region (SAR). The scope of the work covers seven countries, in which the project seeks to stock-take and map out the capacities, needs and available resources of organizations engaged in DRM at all levels. This assessment is conducted to determine the countries’ abilities to implement DRM activities, and to further identify areas for improvement to support the countries (and the region) in their efforts to improve DRM institutions and the overall risk governance.
Duryog Nivaran, in the capacity of an implementing partner of the project is conducting Disaster Risk Management Institutional Assessments in Maldives and Sri Lanka. The assessment focus on governance of disaster risk management based on the four Sendai Priorities, and evaluated against key elements of institutional relationships and coordination, legislation, policy, strategies, and plans resources and tools, capacities and competencies.
