Final Report from Hari Welfare Association (HWA)

Strengthening Women Peasant and Rural Workers’ Resilience Through Local Governance Implemented by Hari Welfare Association (HWA).

This project addressed the critical gap in disaster management in rural Sindh, Pakistan, where frequent flooding disproportionately impacts marginalized peasant women. Implemented by HWA in 12 villages across Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas, the initiative aimed to strengthen community resilience and government accountability.

Key activities included establishing a localized District Disaster Response Framework (DDRF) to bridge the gap between officials and communities. The project conducted training workshops on early warning systems and livestock protection, alongside practical simulation drills for various hazards. By engaging 300 women from peasant unions and indigenous groups, the project empowered them to advocate for their needs. Ultimately, it enhanced disaster preparedness, fostered collaboration between civil society and local government, and equipped vulnerable rural workers with the knowledge to protect their livelihoods against climate risks
