Local Projects

The SIDRRA project aims to enhance adaptability and strengthen resilience among at-risk communities in Asia and amplify local voices in decision-making processes. It promotes multi-stakeholder engagement to ensure that adaptation strategies are grounded in the realities of those most affected. By bridging policy and practice, the project helps local knowledge influence regional resilience agendas.

During the first year of the project four grants were awarded to DN member organisations from South Asia to demonstrate disaster risk governance in Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. In the following year three additional grants were awarded as explolatory research grants on locally led initiatives at country level to organisations from India, and Sri Lanka

These initiatives are now currently underway under the leadership of

  • Hari Welfare Association in Pakistan
  • Dalit Women’s Rights Forum (DWRF) in Nepal
  • Practical Action Consulting in Nepal
  • Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies in Bangladesh
  • All India Disaster Management Institute in India
  • Practical Action in India
  • Janathakshan in Sri Lanka
