The Gender Pledge Wall was an inspiring initiative from the Gender Stakeholder Group at Asia Pacific Ministerial Meeting that concluded in Brisbane, Australia. This was revived at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva that was held from the 2nd to the 6th of June 2025. It served as a powerful symbol of commitment, uniting diverse stakeholders to promote gender-responsive and socially inclusive disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives. The Pledge Wall was open for participants joining in person and virtually as well

On the 2nd of June United Nations Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction and Head of UNDRR Kamal Kishore inaugurated the Gender Pledge Wall with an affirmation that at UN the Gender Equity Acceleration Plan will be implemented. Several other dignitaries including the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, Amina Mohammed and the European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib too joined in making their inclusions to the pledge wall

Pledge Wall encouraged governments, organizations, and stakeholders to commit to concrete actions for advancing gender and social inclusion in development, governance, and disaster risk reduction.
The Virtual Gender Pledge wall for GPDRR 2025 has received pledges from different organizations and representatives. Individuals representing Plan International Asia Pacific, Save the Children International, ActionAid International, World Vision Papua New Guinea and a government representative from Pakistan working in the Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation project pledged to work on gender inclusion, community-based resilience, early warning system, financing disaster risk reduction and disaggregated data.
Pledges reflected development practitioners’ commitments on the following aspects: advocating and supporting equal participation of marginalized groups in decision making process on disaster risk reduction, working in the collection and dissemination of disaggregated data, conducting gender analysis to capture gendered needs of affected population, and systematically integrating these needs to disaster risk reduction strategies.

Pledgers have specified other tangible actions as well on how they can support the implementation of Sendai GAP, such as: raising awareness on gender equality in DRR among community, ensuring diverse voices are heard during decision making process, ensuring transparent monitoring and reporting on gender commitments, ensuring that early warning messages reach women through various means, training women in shelter management and emergency preparedness and ensuring safety of women in evacuation sites.
