As part of the SIDRRA project Duryog Nivaran engaged and organised several programmes at international global forums, online events, scoping studies and country level programmes.

At Global events:

Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction(GPDRR) featuring 4 priorities of the Sendai Framework and key objectives of the Gender Action Plan concluded in Geneva in June 2025. DN hosted several sessions and showcased the Gender Pledge Wall and the inclusion hub and sessions.

Duryog Nivaran | Inclusion Hub – GPDRR 2025

The Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) 2024, hosted by the Government of the Philippines in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), concluded in October 2024 in Manila, Philippines. This platform in Asia and the Pacific monitors, reviews, and enhances cooperation for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, sharing innovative solutions and making actionable commitments to accelerate DRR. As a GSHG lead, DN organised consultations with stakeholder organisations, conducted the Gender Observatory, and established the Help Desk for gender-responsive DRR. A total of 74 individuals representing over 35 different organisations participated in the consultation meeting, providing feedback for GSHG’s statement of commitment and sharing tools and resources contributing to the Sendai Gender Action Plan (Sendai GAP)

Regional events:
  • South Asia Policy Dialogue

The annual South Asia Policy Dialogue, focusing on improving multi-hazard early warning systems. Inclusive and effective systems, and the need to align local and international policies were highlighted by the speakers.

  • 4th National Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Nepal

Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR), DPNet Nepal, ICIMOD and Duryog Nivaran collaborated with NDRRMA in organising this conference in Nepal. The Gender Pledge Wall initiative was also featured at this conference as well.

DN hosted a Roundtable Discussion on October 29, 2025, in Kathmandu, aimed at fostering engagement and collaboration with national and local stakeholder organizations

  • International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) 2025 Webinar: “Fund Resilience, Not Disasters”

The discussions featured the importance of investing in preventive measures of disasters and enhancing resilience over reactionary measures of post-disaster services.

Scoping study:

As part of the SIDDRA project, the consortium commissioned a scoping study to explore the role of networks in disaster risk reduction (DRR) efforts and assess the need for such networks in the South Asian region. The research findings highlighted opportunities and strategies for networks to enhance and amplify the voices of local communities, particularly those of oppressed and marginalized groups.
