Job purpose
The Coordinator will be the operational manager of the network, responsible for the day to day management of the network functions that include the coordination and communication among DN steering committee, and members and with relevant stakeholders for effective implementation of the strategic and work-plans of the network; membership development, taking forwards the vision of the network, and ensuring the legal requirements related to the network are carried out.
Functions /Duties and Responsibilities
Duryog Nivaran Coordinator manages the strategic and daily operations of the network and the implementation of decisions adopted by the Steering Committee (SC). The Coordinator will report to, and work in regular liaison with the Chair of the Steering Committee and with any Member of the SC designated by Chair. The specific responsibilities include:
Strategy Development and Implementation
1.1 Rolling out the Duryog Nivaran Strategic Plan
The Coordinator will be responsible to manage the implementation of the Strategic Plan, develop and manage the programme activities of the organization, and liaise with the members of the Steering Committee for consultation and direction as necessary; especially :
- Lead the implementation and monitoring of the Strategic Plan
- Develop a 3-year work plan and a Results Framework guided by the Strategic Plan,
- Develop and implement annual work plans based on the above
1.2 Strengthening the DN Network
- Ensure annual work plans are relevant to the thematic, policy and institution context of the Asia region, and that their outcomes, outputs and processes contribute meaningfully to the promotion and the strengthening of the DN Network,
- Keep the work plans of the network updated with the evolving developments in the thematic areas of focus of the DN network
- Outreach the results and reports strategically to authorities, donors, and civil society members.
1.3 Engagement with the network members
- Support the network membership to pursue strategic direction, to implement the Strategic Plan achieving the earmarked results
- Actively engage, coordinate, and support the network members in research, dialogue, advocacy and communication of network activities
1.4 Engage new members
- Assess the Asia landscape for potential new members in line with the strategic and thematic interest of the network
- Develop strategies and tools to engage new members in the DN network
- Meaningfully engage and maintain relationships with new members and relevant networks
1.5 Resource Mobilization
- Develop a fundraising strategy and plan in coordination with the DN Steering Committee for securing the resources necessary to implement the Strategic Plan
- Develop funding/grant proposals for submission to potential funding sources
- Proactively identify and evaluate potential funding sources, coordinate available funding opportunities, build and maintain relationships with current and potential donors.
Network Administration, Operation of the network
2.1 Legal and Administrative Requirements
- Liaise with the Company Secretary and attend to the obligations of the Registration authority
- Call for and facilitate the Steering Committee meetings with the Chair, serving as the Secretary of the Steering Committee
- Organize network meetings, workshops, visits of the members as and when necessary, accordingly with the work plans/SC decisions
- Support the Chair to conduct the DN Annual meetings, the submission of the annual report and other related documentation.
- Maintain records, including SC meeting minutes, decisions and recommendations of meetings and workshops, and other relevant records
- Coordinate with the DN Secretariat team members related to network administration and operation
2.2 Finance and administration
- Manage finances and administration of the Network together with the relevant staff members
- Maintain Bank Accounts for the Network together with the Finance Manager, and ensure signatories are in line with the SC decisions
2.3 Communication & Knowledge Management
- Update and oversee the quality and up-to-date information on the website and social media of Duryog Nivaran
- Ensure that regular information on the project is available on web and social media pages.
- Draw key lessons from time-to-time, organize webinars and other strategic relevant advocacy activities in accordance with the annual work plans
- Participate in meetings with key stakeholders
- Keep abreast of advocacy events and provide necessary inputs, especially engagement with key platforms such as Asia Pacific Partnership for DRR, the Gender Stakeholder Group and the UNDRR Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism.
- Track enquiries from clients, donors, strategic partners; respond in appropriate manner
Qualifications & experience
Graduate level qualification in development studies or in related field from recognized body with minimum 5 years’ experience in coordination of regional/international projects/networks. Specialized knowledge in DRR and Climate Change and/or experience in multi-country projects is an added qualification.

- Language proficiency: Excellent spoken and written English
- Communication and Coordination – effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to coordinate with multiple organisations and stakeholders, including authorities and donors
- Management – Proven experience in Contract Management, programme administration, budget management
- Organisation: Strategic networking and excellent organizational skills.
- Documentation: Proven report writing, presentation skills
- Proven problem-solving abilities, consistent, methodical work practices
- Self-motivating, and willing to work alone and be managed from a distance.
- Ability to use basic software packages, such as spreadsheets and or any other applications that are needed for the above work
